The History Nebraska Board of Trustees is proud to announce Mike and Shirley King as the recipients of the 2021 Heritage Hero Award for their work with the Sherman County Historical Society.

History Nebraska recognizes deserving individuals and organizations throughout the State of Nebraska for preserving and sharing the history of their region. Former President of the Board of Trustees, Lance Bristol, presented the King’s with a Heritage Hero Award pin and certificate on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at the Historical Society’s Holiday Potluck.

Mike and Shirley have been the type of volunteers that all organizations dream about. They were instrumental in readying the display area for the horse-drawn equipment, in cleaning up discarded bricks, in removing unsightly rose bushes, in displaying garments and pictures, in getting cement pads ready for upcoming informational signs, for being part of the team that keeps our huge lawn mowed, and so much more.

The Sherman County Historical Society with the History Nebraska Board of Trustees are pleased to recognize Mike and Shirley and their volunteering spirit.
